Amparo Barillas a 52-year-old woman and Glin Yan Zuniga Latin  her 28-year-old son have been charged with running a brothel out of a South Florida home. The duo were arrested after authorities received a complaint that 15-year-old girls were being used for sex work. A woman who worked for the duo revealed that she was paid by the number of condoms she used.

Detectives used surveillance and undercover “johns” and discovered that the son, Glin Yan Zuniga Latin, 28, was in charge. The sheriff’s office said he had been under suspicion in similar situations before, but he was never arrested. Detectives later learned that 52-year-old Amparo Latin Barillas was also involved.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the mother was allegedly in charge of working the door and accepting cash payments. According to the arrest affidavit, “customers” would knock on the door and be let in. Then they would pay $50 and be given a card. They would choose the sex worker they wanted, walk into a room, hand over the card, engage in sexual acts, and leave. Matches were limited to 15 minutes.

Detectives found a 25-year-old woman who told them that Barillas asked her to work three days a week, for a fee of $25 per client. She told detectives that she averaged 8 to 10 clients a day and that Barillas paid her based on the number of condoms used at the end of her shift.

The woman also told detectives that there was another brothel next door, but that it was considered a separate business. Detectives believe the mother and son are involved in both businesses, WEPC reported. Bank subpoenas revealed that the two made regular cash deposits into their accounts, but there is no evidence that they had any other income.

The mother and son are charged with making money from prostitution and running a house of prostitution. Barillas was booked on Thursday afternoon, January 12, and is still in custody. Bail for him was set at $30,000. Latin was booked on January 6 and spent nearly 8 hours in jail before being released on $5,000 bond.Read More…..
