Lawrence ‘Larry’ Ray, a convicted sex trafficker will be sentenced on Friday, January 20, and federal prosecutors are pushing to make sure he never gets out of prison. Assistant US Attorney Mollie Bracewell wants those guilty severely punished for her “heinous” crimes, in which she victimized her daughter’s friends at Sarah Lawrence College, among others.
“Over a period of years, he intentionally inflicted brutal, lifelong harm on innocent victims whom he groomed and abused into submission,” she wrote in her 17-page sentencing memorandum. “Once he established control over his victims, he exploited them for his own gain through extortion, sex trafficking and forced labor.”

According to prosecutors, Ray owes more than $5.5 million in restitution, more than $761,000 in unpaid federal taxes and other financial penalties. He had just been released from prison on charges unrelated to child custody rights, for Talia Ray, when he first invaded his victims’ lives in 2010. His daughter had invited him into her communal bedroom, where he got into contact with several of her roommates. He included Daniel Levin, Isabella Pollok, Claudia Drury, and Santos Rosario, among others.
Apparently, the other two girls, who were not Sarah Lawrence’s, but entered Ray’s circle, were Rosario’s sisters, Felecia Rosario and Yalitza Rosario. They all testified against him in a trial last year, where nearly all of his victims shared that he first gained their trust through deceit and then exploited them emotionally, physically and sexually.
Ray led them to believe and falsely recorded his confession to poisoning him, conspiring against his family, and damaging his property. However, it all backfired in the long run, as both audio and video recordings, emails and other documents were used against him. It didn’t take long for a federal jury to convict him of all 15 charges, which include extortion, racketeering, sex trafficking, forced labor, tax evasion and money laundering, according to Law&Crime. The memo filed with the court further states: “While the defendant’s victims descended into self-hatred, self-harm, and suicidal attempts under their coercive control, the evidence showed that the defendant sadistically relished their pain and reveled in the fruits of his pain. suffering.”
As her victims suffered immense pain under her strict control, Ray said in an interview with New York Magazine that she believed at least 12 suicide attempts had been made within the group, with one young man, Iban Goicoechea, committing suicide.Read More….
