An Alabama woman was arrested and charged Tuesday, December 20, after she allegedly threw a computer monitor at an American Airlines employee at Miami-Dade International Airport.

Camilia McMillie, faces charges of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. McMillie, from Birmingham, was reportedly traveling from Alabama to New York City, with a layover in Miami.

She checked into her flight at gate D-39 after she was rebooked due to missing her previous flight. Miami police said she became “irritated and started yelling” after noticing her two youngest children had wandered off, People reported.

The children had gone to the bathroom, but a witness told WSVN that their disappearance caused McMillie to go into “panic mode.” The desperate mother began looking for her children and even asked airport security to help her find them.

Video of the incident has since gone viral showing McMillie pulling a boarding pass reader from a wooden counter, damaging both the area and the equipment itself.

Her mother’s actions left her fellow travelers in terror. Trudy Hooker, who was traveling to the Bahamas with her husband Ernie, told CBS: “My reaction is I think this was a bit of a stretch.

McMillie is currently being held in a Miami-Dade County jail on $4,500 bond, according to jail records. As of Wednesday night, she remains behind bars.

The document also states that she caused more than $10,000 in damage and also left the gate agent with a bruised right shoulder. Her children are currently being assisted by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
