The body of a missing Texas teenager was discovered earlier this week in a decomposed state, authorities said. A 14-year-old boy who was reported missing in Houston has been found shot to death, police say. According to the missing persons report, Carlos Lugo had been missing since January 23 and had last been seen near the 2000 block of Tidwell. Carlos Lugo , 14, was found shot to death on February 4, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing, according to a Houston Police Department news release.

On Saturday, a week and a half later, police went to a vacant lot in the 2000 block of Firnat Street where a person had been found dead. Police say the person’s body was in a state of decomposition and an autopsy has been ordered to identify the person and cause of death. Carlos was last seen on January 21 when his mother, Rosa, said she dropped him off at a friend’s house, reports ABC 13.

Carlos Lugo cause of death

The teen had not been heard from since then and he was reported missing on January 23. On February 4, officers found his body with multiple gunshot wounds and in a “state of decomposition” in a field about a mile from the friend’s Tidwell Avenue home, according to authorities. He was identified and pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, a homicide investigation into his death is ongoing. Authorities have yet to make any arrests or discuss a possible motive. It is also unclear when the shooting occurred.
