HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) – Deputies are searching for whoever fired a gun in the middle of the night in northwest Harris County, wounding a 13-year-old boy. The 13-year-old girl was asleep in her bed at around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday when the bullet passed through her window and struck her. Meanwhile, residents of the area are concerned about the shooting. It happened at an apartment complex in the 15400 block of Kuykendahl Road near FM-1960. ABC13 spoke to the girl’s mother, who said she heard at least six shots and counted six bullet holes in the apartment. Harris County sheriff’s deputies said the girl was taken to the hospital in good condition. She is expected to survive.

“I was going to the store and coming back, and now I hear a girl was shot. You know, that makes me want to deviate from the lease. I’ve only been here two days, literally. My U-Haul is still out there.” said a neighbor who is the father of two young children and just moved into the complex. Agents said they responded to a call from a possible driver and were met by the girl’s mother, who said she had been shot. The girl was asleep in her bed when a bullet flew in through her second-story window. The 13-year-old was then rushed to a hospital by ambulance and she is expected to be fine. Investigators said the mother and her two other children were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting. No one else was injured.

“Last night, I heard them shooting near my window,” she said. “It’s very scary because I also have children… I have a 16-year-old son who walks the dogs in this area.” She said that her family plans to move soon. Another neighbor said that she plans to terminate her lease after moving here two days ago. Her U-Haul truck is still parked outside. He is also a father of young children.

“I’m worried because I don’t want anything to happen to my two girls, or my son, or anything like that,” she said. “My prayers go out to them, and I hope that their daughter is well and that she has a speedy recovery.” Now, investigators are trying to find out who pulled the trigger. Agents on the scene did not provide details on any leads they may have. No one has been arrested. The girl’s mother and her two other children were also inside the apartment during the shooting, officers said. They weren’t hurt.

The mother told investigators that she thought it was a drive-by shooting, but officers said they aren’t 100% sure that happened. “There is evidence, specifically casings collected that were in the parking lot,” Agent Ryan Hilz said. “So whether or not they were in a vehicle or on foot, that’s still being determined.”Read More…..
