He was standing on a balcony around 6 p.m. m. when the resident of that apartment noticed him, according to Grand Prairie police.

The resident reportedly believed his apartment was being robbed, so he grabbed a gun and shot Cesar to death through the window. Police arrived at the scene and found the maintenance worker lying on the balcony with a gunshot wound.

César was immediately taken to the hospital, where the doctors treating him pronounced him dead. Police said the victim was checking frozen and broken water lines after several pipes on the property had previously ruptured.

Cesar Montelongo Cause of death

The resident who shot him remained in the apartment and he is said to be cooperating with authorities, though no arrests have been made at press time in connection with the incident. However, the investigation is ongoing.

The case is currently being investigated and will be referred to the Tarrant County Grand Jury for review by Grand Prairie Police. “We don’t know who the suspect is,” the victim’s son, Cesar Montelongo Jr., told WFAA.

“We don’t know what state they were in. We only know that that happened,” he added. Montelongo Jr added: “My dad was a great man of faith. My mother is a great woman of faith. So, we’re just believing and trying to get through it.”

Cesar Montelongo Jr. says his father was a respected man of faith who worked for the apartment complex for 16 years. “We don’t know who the suspect is. We don’t know what condition they were in.”

Cesar is survived by his wife and five of his children. A GoFundMe page set up by his niece revealed that Christmas marked his 29th wedding anniversary.

“My uncle was murdered on Christmas Eve in a senseless act of violence while he was at his workplace,” Kimberly Montelongo wrote on the fundraising page.

“Today, on what was supposed to be his 29th marriage anniversary, he is grieving for his 5 children and his loving wife. My uncle was a loving and hard-working man who gave his entire life for his family. His devotion to the Lord gave strength,” he added. Read More…
