A 51-year-old woman, Marylue Wigglesworth, was arrested for allegedly fatally shooting her husband, David Wigglesworth, 57, on Christmas Day. Police officers arrived at the family’s residence on Somers Point Road at around 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, December 25.

Agents found David with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. The 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

However, they remained at the Atlantic County Justice Center on Monday, December 26, the New York Post reported. Prosecutors did not release any further information about possible motives.

David is known as Wiggy among his circles. He was politically active and campaigned as a Republican for the township committee in 2019. The duo also share a son.

He also served on the Planning Board and volunteered for The Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. David ran with Bruce Strigh for the Hamilton Township Committee in 2012. However, Rodney Guishard and Judy Link, in the 2012 general election, defeated Wigglesworth and Strigh.

According to Atlantic County Police officials, “On December 25, 2022, at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a residence in the 5200 block of Mays Landing Somers Point Rd., by a wounded man.

Officers arrived to find the man, later identified as David B. Wigglesworth, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Wigglesworth was pronounced dead.”

In a separate incident, a five-year-old boy was shot on Christmas Eve, turning the family’s holiday weekend into a tragedy. Following a reported shooting at the Kansas City, Missouri, residence just before 6:45 p.m. m. on Saturday, police and rescue personnel arrived and took action to save the life of the boy who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

A nearby hospital rated the boy’s injuries critical and he was admitted. However, officers gave an update with “immense grief” at 11:43 a.m.
