Devon Arthurs Wiki – Devon Arthurs Biography

FLORIDA: Devon Arthurs, a neo-Nazi from Florida who converted to Islam, pleaded guilty to killing his roommates for disrespecting their religion on Monday, May 8. Arthurs has officially pleaded guilty to him for shooting and killing Jeremy Himmelman and Andrew Onseschuck in his Tampa apartment in 2017.

Arthurs told authorities after his arrest that he had been mocked for converting to a different faith and that his victims had been planning bombing attacks, according to the New York Post. Supposedly, he informed investigators that Muslim nations were being bombed and that he wanted the killings to highlight anti-Muslim sentiment. The trial for the murders of Himmelman, 22, and Oneschuk, 18, was repeatedly delayed because Arthurs’ lawyer insisted the defendant suffered from schizophrenia and other illnesses. However, the lawsuit was allowed to proceed after the court determined that he was mentally competent.

Why Devon Arthurs killed his roommates

Arthurs, along with his two roommates, had previously belonged to the Atomwaffen Division, a neo-Nazi group. He later renounced his previous beliefs and converted to Islam. Inside the home that Arthurs shared with the victims, investigators had even discovered weapons, explosives, and racial literature. Arthurs has been accused of killing his roommates when he was 18 and leading police to the bodies after their first interaction with him.

Police first encountered Arthurs when he took three people hostage inside a cigar store. He admitted to authorities that he originally resisted releasing his captives because he was angry about US aggression in the Middle East. In the end, the police released the hostages and arrested Arthurs.

Later, Arthurs alerted authorities that he had murdered his roommates. After that, they went to the scene and saw Brandon Russell, another roommate, crying in front of the house. He was wearing a military uniform. Arthurs was later arrested by police for having an armory inside the house; he was sentenced to five years in federal prison.

In pleading guilty on Monday, May 8, Arthurs expressed his sympathy for the murders and told the court that his life’s work will be to fight violent radicalism. He said: “I would like to take this moment to tell the world to stay away from extremist groups,” according to the New York Post. Arthurs was also previously arrested for planning terrorist acts against power grid infrastructure. The case is still pending.Read More…….
