She earned a BA in Women’s Studies from William Paterson University. Dwumfour had served in Sayreville Township since November 2021, when she unseated the incumbent Democrat in a stunning election victory. She did not run for re-election until 2024.

Local police arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m. m. after receiving a 911 call for multiple gunshots at Samuel Circle in Sayreville. I remember saying to her: I will see you at the HRC meeting tomorrow without knowing that tonight it was going to be the end of her life. I can’t stop crying. She was 30 years old and full of life. You will be missed, my dear precious friend.”
