A Canadian man who opened a pharmacy selling cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and ecstasy has died of an overdose, according to a report. Jerry Martin, 51, died Friday in Vancouver days after of a fentanyl overdose and was rushed to the hospital, his girlfriend, Krista Tomas, told Vice. Martin was unresponsive after the overdose until his family decided to take him off life support.

Martin’s opened the brick-and-mortar store, aptly named The Drug Store, in May after British Columbia changed its laws on January 31 to allow adults to possess up to 2.5 grams of drugs, including opioids, cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA. or ecstasy, for personal use without being arrested.

“Jerry believed that people were self-medicating for his trauma, and as long as they did, they needed a safe supply to do it,” Thomas told Vice. “He is no more exempt than any other human being on this earth,” Thomas continued. “He had his own trauma and unfortunately he relapsed.”

It was not clear if Martin used fentanyl intentionally or if another drug he used had been laced with the powerful opioid, Thomas added. Martin’s brash business, which was billed as the first store to test drugs for deadly additives like fentanyl, got off to a rocky start after he was arrested for drug trafficking a day after opening in downtown Vancouver.Read More……..
