Lovely Toney Wiki – Lovely Toney Biography
A 3-year-old girl named Lovely Toney was injured by a stray bullet when a murder suspect, Gary Jones, opened fire on detectives and then fatally shot himself on Long Island Tuesday night, police said. Lovely was standing on the couch in her house when she was struck by one of the bullets that went through the wall of the apartment next door where the suspect was hiding, her father James Toney told CBS New York.
“I was just feeding my children, putting my daughter through her ritual, bathing her at night. I heard what sounded like fireworks. I turned around and saw my daughter bleeding,” he said. “I didn’t know how to react. I had never been through that before. My daughter was even shocked, she just stood there, she didn’t even cry,” she said. “I just found out that she put her hand through her…she went in and out of her stomach.”
The girl was rushed to a local hospital by police officers who took life-saving measures to control the bleeding, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said during a news conference. Toney said her daughter underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery soon. “It’s definitely something tragic, something I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” she said.
The shooting took place around 8.30 p.m. when Suffolk County Police Homicide detectives went to a complex on Ticonderoga Court in Ridge to investigate a June slaying in Central Islip, authorities said. Detectives were interviewing a friend of the suspect, Gary Jones, 38, of North Amityville, who informed them that Jones was at the home.
Jones then emerged from a room armed with a pistol and fired multiple shots at the detectives who retreated from the house. Harrison said investigators recovered a 9mm handgun from Jones, believed to be the same caliber used in the death of his girlfriend. After Jones fired at detectives, police surrounded the home and called hostage negotiators and the Emergency Services Unit, authorities said. No officer was said to have fired his weapon at any time during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.Read More…….
