Charges on Matthew John Ermond Mannix

Mannix was allegedly hostile, barricading himself inside, claiming to have a gun, and telling security that he would shoot someone if anyone got inside. “If you don’t go, it will end badly,” he told police. The defendant allegedly taunted the officers and said that he had a “magazine full of rounds” and that he would “pull the trigger.”

A woman yelled through the door that Mannix had a knife, according to authorities. This prompted a rescue operation. While speaking with the negotiators, Mannix threatened the woman that if she spoke to the police, she would cut out her tongue. At 2:46 p.m. m., SWAT officers forced their way into the room and took him into custody. “The female who was also in the room is safe and with officers,” police wrote.

The woman told investigators that she had spent the previous few days with Mannix living a “transient lifestyle on the Las Vegas Strip.” She didn’t come out of that room because Mannix had a knife. The woman said that after Mannix broke the window, she feared he would throw her out, according to the documents.

The documents also indicated that the defendant had a warrant for his arrest as a Colorado fugitive, but authorities redacted the information on that charge. Mannix is being held without bond in the Clark County Jail for kidnapping and as a fugitive from another state. He is also being held on $20,000 total bond for coercion with force or threat of force, destruction or damage to real or personal property of another person, resisting a public official, and disregard for the safety of a person or property.Read More…..
