Browndorf and Farmer reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. Police officers later determined that it was a car-to-car shooting involving two cars, a black Mercedes and a white Honda Civic. Witnesses told police that Neaimi-Pour entered the passenger side of the Mercedes that pulled up along the east side of Athel Avenue. A while later, the white Honda Civic pulled up next and the male passenger of the Honda Civic gushed out of the car. He then shot the victim multiple times.
