U-Haul driver kidnapped woman and took off her clothes

A man allegedly terrorized a woman in a one-day kidnapping by forcing her into his U-Haul truck, removing her clothes and stabbing her fingers with a pocket knife as he drove it all day. Maryland State Police said they arrested 62-year-old Dennis Bell on Saturday night. Authorities did not identify the woman. Paramedics took her to a local hospital, they said. Bell, a resident of Lanham, Maryland, met the woman at a convenience store on Minnesota Avenue Southwest in Washington, DC on Saturday morning, officers say.

According to police, she said Bell forced her into the truck and threatened to kill her if she did not comply with his demands. He drove all day with her sitting on the floor in front of her. “The victim reported to police that she did not know where she was all day as Bell continued to drive,” authorities said.

Eventually, however, motorists reported that a U-Haul truck was driving erratically and striking several parked cars in the area of Princess Garden Parkway. Troopers tried to stop traffic, but Bell refused to stop, authorities said. There was a chase, according to police. “A pursuit ensued and ended at Baltimore Avenue and Elm Street in Lanham, where the vehicle was disabled in a ditch,” they wrote.

After Bell refused to get out of the vehicle, officers gained entry through the passenger-side window and found the woman, who was naked and sitting on the floor with apparent injuries to her fingers, police said. “Police immediately rescued the female and covered her with an agency-issued jacket,” officers said. “Personnel from the emergency medical service went to the scene and took her by ambulance to the hospital.”

Bell was uncooperative and refused to identify himself, officers said. He faces charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment, first-degree assault, and fourth-degree sex crime. He is also charged with driving while intoxicated and possibly possessing crack.Read More…..
