A Wisconsin man is on trial for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. Zachariah Anderson 42, is accused of attacking victim Rosalio Gutierrez Jr., 40, in the victim’s apartment on May 17, 2020 in a gory attack. You can see the procedures in the video above.

Authorities never found Gutiérrez’s body. Defense attorney Nicole Muller made this point in her opening remarks on Tuesday. She interpreted this as a major weakness in the state’s case. Police don’t know what happened to Gutierrez’s body, she said. They do not know where the “presumed remains” are. There are no witnesses that Anderson was at the address of Gutierrez’s apartment on May 17. There are no witnesses that he suspects or is covered in blood, she said.

Nobody. No human remains. No indication of cleaning up the crime scene. “They don’t have any of that,” she said. But Kenosha County District Attorney Michael Graveley painted a picture of Anderson as a jealous and controlling ex-boyfriend. The prosecutor told the jury that Sadie Beacham, the mother of the defendant’s three children, broke up with him because of the way he acted: going to and from her house as she pleased, not contributing financially on a regular basis, etc. Although she allowed him contact with her children, she “was ready to move on,” Graveley said.

He met Gutierrez, a father of two, through a dating website. But Anderson was allegedly overcome with jealousy and controlling. He spied on Beacheam, even using her eldest daughter (who was 11 and 12 during this whole ordeal) to help spy on her. “I did it to please him,” the boy told investigators, according to the prosecutor.

One day, before her daughter’s 12th birthday, Beacham’s sons were going to spend time at her father’s house. Beacham invited Gutierrez to her residence. He joined her. And in the middle of the night, she woke up to a ringing at the door. She looked outside and saw a vehicle that resembled Anderson’s “squealing,” the prosecutor said.

According to the state, the daughter said her father had taken her in that incident. Anderson allegedly placed a listening device in a vent in the residence, peered in through the windows, and made his daughter look in as well. Inside, the girl saw her mother and a person she had not seen before, the prosecutor said. Anderson allegedly warned her not to fog up the window or the others would see it.

Meanwhile, her 4-year-old twin brothers were home unsupervised, the state said. “I didn’t feel like it was safe,” he said, according to the prosecutor. Anderson rang the doorbell as a gesture to show he was in control, Graveley said.

In the aftermath of this incident, Beacham and Gutierrez discovered that they had broken into Gutierrez’s truck. A letter and the truck’s car registration were taken, the prosecutor said. According to the state, Anderson admitted to police that he had a “premonition” that something was going on at the residence. He allegedly denied planting a listening device, but insisted that he actually brought the twins there. The prosecutor emphasized that the incident was in the middle of the night.

In connection with the spying efforts, the defendant purchased automatic tracking devices with voice-activated recording, the state said. Anderson would allegedly say nasty things about Gutierrez, including referring to him in racist language like “b-ner.”

Meanwhile, Beacham was hopeful that this hitherto non-exclusive relationship with Gutierrez could turn into something more serious. It meant a lot to her that he finally introduced her to her children: an 8-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. Gutierrez had been an “enthusiastic” coach for his son in baseball, the prosecutor said. Beacham, Gutiérrez and her children went out for ice cream.

“This is a truly significant moment in his life,” the prosecutor said. And it was the last time she saw Gutiérrez. Their relationship had reached a point where they were in contact multiple times a day, so it was strange when she suddenly stopped communicating. Beacham drove from Milwaukee to Gutierrez’s Kenosha apartment.

It was there that she found her sliding door open and the scene closed. She looked inside to find a horrible scene. There was blood everywhere in the apartment, the state said. It was even on the roof of several rooms. There was blood on areas including the dining room table, kitchen counter, laptop and pooled in the area by the entryway, the state said.

There was a small piece of wood that had Gutierrez’s blood and hair on it. There were wood chips and clumps of hair on the couch. There were significant amounts of blood on the curtains. Blood seeped onto the carpet and onto a sofa.  Read More…..
