Four Amazon children have miraculously been found alive in Colombian jungle

Four indigenous children who went missing for six weeks in the Colombian Amazon jungle after a plane crash have reportedly been found alive. The siblings, Lesly, 13, Soleiny, nine, Tien Noriel, four, and baby Cristin, who turned one while in the jungle, were traveling in a small plane on May 1 when the plane is believed to have crashed. There was no sign of the youths when the plane’s wreckage was recovered by the Colombian army, launching a massive search operation in the southeast of the country to find them. Originally from the Uitoto indigenous group, the children have already been found alive, according to military sources quoted by the Colombian press.

They are said to be dehydrated and have bug bites, but are otherwise in good condition, according to BNO News. Sources from the Military Forces would have confirmed to the news site EL TIEMPO that the children lost since May 1 have survived. The children’s grandfather told Noticias Caracol that he was very grateful to the army for helping to find them and added “I want to see them.”

His grandmother added: ‘I never lost hope, I was always supporting the search. I feel very happy, I thank President Petro and my ‘countrymen’ who went through so many difficulties’. Colombian President Gustavo Petro also shared the good news on Twitter, writing a message that translates as: ‘A joy for the whole country! ‘The 4 children who were lost 40 days ago in the Colombian jungle turned up alive’.
